Join us at the East Dartmoor U3A for an enlightening presentation by renowned photographer Mike Rego and author Neil Yeandle, where they will delve into the artistry of photographing and writing about the River Teign. This unique opportunity promises to deepen your appreciation for the natural beauty that graces the beloved river Teign.
Photographing the River Teign Restoration Project and other Aspects of Dartmoor
Photographing the River Teign and major tributaries, the Bovey and the Lemon, from source to sea for a book about the River Teign Restoration Project gave a fresh perspective on photographing local life and scenery. All too easily we think we know a place, and then we go down a lane or track that we haven't visited before, and a whole new world opens up on our doorstep, and what may seem to be very ordinary today, may be very different in 10 years time - "when it's gone, it's gone forever".
When I volunteered to take the photographs for 'The Teign Book', all about the River Teign Restoration Project, I really wasn't sure where the project was going, and if a book really was a bridge too far having never done one before. But with co-author Neil Yeandle and his knowledge of natural history and the declining fish stocks on the Teign, and my experience of photographing local people, places and events, a new insight into East Dartmoor and the River Teign opened up to both of us.
As Mike and Neil guide you through their remarkable visual journey, you'll discover facts that reveal the river's enchanting character across different seasons and moods.
Additionally, you will have the exclusive chance to purchase copies of the Teign Book, a stunning compilation that showcases the river's breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, and the communities that cherish it. Whether you're an avid angler, a nature enthusiast, or simply seeking to commemorate the River Teign, this book will make a cherished addition to your collection.
Don’t miss out on this exceptional event where art, nature, and community converge.
