TACA AGM

Friday the 13th has always had a bit of a reputation… but on Friday 13th March 2026, we’re choosing to ignore superstition and focus on something far more dependable… good people, good conversation, and a catchment worth caring about.

Our Annual General Meeting is a chance to pause for a moment, take stock of what’s been happening across the catchment, and share where things are heading next. It’s also one of those rare moments when we’re all in the same room at the same time - volunteers, members, anglers, partners - which always helps spark the best conversations and discussions.

The AGM will take place on Friday 13th March 2026, from 18:30 to 22:00, at The Cromwell Arms, Fore Street, Newton Abbot, TQ13 9AE. Full venue details and timings are available via the TACA events calendar on the website.

What to Expect

On the night, we’ll be talking through the work delivered over the past year, outlining our next steps and future plans, and officially welcoming some new faces onto the committee. We’ll also take a moment to properly thank those choosing to step back - people who’ve given their time, energy, and experience to TACA and the river, consistently and mostly quietly.

We’re really pleased to welcome Bertie Warren as our guest speaker for the evening.

Bertie completed his PhD at Bournemouth University, using modern tracking techniques to follow sea trout movements within the Teign catchment. Some of his work reveals how these fish use the system - when, where, and how they move within the river. This is genuinely eye-opening and has real implications for how we think about restoration, access, and catchment connectivity.

We’ll also hear brief updates from our partners at the Environment Agency, the National Trust and Westcountry Rivers Trust, helping place TACA’s work in the wider catchment and local picture.

Importantly, this AGM is open to all TACA volunteers and subscribers. Whether you’ve been involved for years, dipped a toe in through a volunteer day, contribute to Riverfly, or simply care about the future of the Teign, you’re very welcome to come along, listen in, and be part of the conversation.

After the formalities, there’ll be a buffet available for £10 for anyone who’d like to stay on, catch up, and continue socialising into the evening.

👉 Please RSVP using the button below, letting us know if you intend to join in on the buffet, so we can plan seating and catering.

I'd like to Attend

Friday the 13th might come with a few myths attached, but this one’s shaping up to be a really good excuse to get together, meet new members, hopefully learn something new, and look ahead to what comes next for us on the Teign.
